Dichoric
A glass reflector and LightBulb assembly that allows heat to dissipate through the reflector and away from the LightBulb thus increasing LightBulb life.
Dual Filament LightBulb
A LightBulb having two filaments encased in one glass tube. In the case of halogen headlight LightBulbs with dual filaments, one filament for the low beam and one filament for the high beam. The most common dual filament halogen headlight LightBulbs are H4, HB2, 9007, and 9004.
High Intensity Discharge (HID)
A light source in which light is produced by a stabilized arc that burns at a much higher color temperature which creates a whiter light output than a standard halogen LightBulb. This arc is generated with an ignition system and ballast.
Ion Crystal
A proprietary coating applied to a LightBulb or a lens that transforms the light output to amber with much higher efficiency than conventional amber colored lenses.
Plasma Blue
A proprietary process applied to a LightBulb or lens that transforms which transforms conventional halogen light output to a bright blue-white color similar to the look of H.I.D lamp systems.
Super White
A proprietary process applied to a LightBulb or lens that transforms the light output to a brilliant white that is closer to natural sun light than a standard LightBulb.
Xenon
The gas used in HID systems that produce the extreme white color. Xenon gas is also used in some halogen LightBulbs to produce a whiter light and to keep deposits off of the glass tube.
XTRA
A PIAA term used to designate high efficiency LightBulbs that are designed to produce greater output than its rated power consumption, (Example: 55 watts = 85 watts of light output).
